In Our Community
ACCi is actively involved in the local Birmingham community in a variety of ways, including working with the local City Sales clubs, Kiwanis Club, and a variety of events and seminars.  One particularly special project is the involvement with a local inner-city scout troop, Boy Scout Troop 180.  Most of the boys involved in this troop live in the neighborhoods surrounding the Legion Field area of downtown, in communities such as Elyton Village, College Hills, Graymont, Smithfield and others.  The Troop was founded around 1997 by Paul Neville, the director of a ministry entitled Neighborhood Network, as a way of reaching out to the future leadership of the local area.

ACCi works with Troop 180 in a variety of ways, such as conducting Computer Merit Badge training classes, attending local troop events, giving financial support for equipment and supplies, and providing man hours from ACCi staff members for teaching, training and assistance.  Several of ACCi's employees have been able to attend overnight campouts and spend extended time with the troop's members.

Most of the members of the troop do not have the financial or family resources that other local Boy Scout troops have, and ACCi seeks to fill in some of the gaps to foster a greater learning environment for the boys.  If taking the time to reach out to these young boys can make a difference in the next few years of their lives, we at ACCi want to contribute in any way we can to impact their lives.
