Senior Engineer / Solution Architect

Summary

The Senior Engineer / Solution Architect role is a critical component in the ACCi service delivery system that touches all areas of our professional IT services including:

  • Pre-sales client engagement
  • Pre-sales engineering, design & estimating
  • Project implementation and quality assurance
  • Determination and oversight of our managed services technology stack
  • Level 3 escalation point for complex service ticket issues
  • vCIO consulting for our fully managed clients
  • Provide coaching & mentorship to our technical staff
  • Provide leadership in the research & implementation of future technology directions
  • Subject matter expert able to give presentations at our Lunch N Learns, trade shows, corporate events, etc.

The ability to conduct strong business value discussions at the C-level, solid hands-on experience with existing technologies, and a passion to learn & implement new technologies are all characteristics that are necessary to be successful in this job.

Candidates should possess the following:

  • 5 – 7 years in a senior Level-3 IT engineering or solution architect role
  • Minimum level of industry certifications
    (CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft MCSA / MCP /MCSE, SonicWall CSSA, AeroHive ACWA / ACWP, VMWare VCP, and Digium Certified SwitchVox Engineer dCSE)
  • Strong knowledge & experience in server & desktop hardware configurations
  • Strong knowledge & experience in operating systems and various software platforms
  • Strong knowledge & experience in network infrastructure devices and connectivity
  • Strong background in IT security including physical, technical, and social
  • Fully versed in Level I – Level III support
  • Understanding of IP networking concepts
  • Windows Server & Desktop troubleshooting skills

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Meet with clients and prospects to discuss technology needs for their business
  • Research, design, and architect solutions that produces a scope-of-work, bill of material, & labor estimates for each phase of the project
  • Prep, configure, and install solutions as part of the implementation process
  • Onsite deployment of equipment using personally-owned dependable transportation
  • Client training on implemented solutions
  • Design and oversight of ACCi’s internal IT infrastructure
  • Design, monitoring & oversight of ACCi’s managed services technology stack
  • Conduct periodic Strategic Business Reviews (SBR) with our fully managed clients
  • Prepare and present executive summary of IT health scorecard
  • Prepare and present a rolling 8 quarters budget for IT infrastructure
  • Continual research, sandbox testing/vetting, and recommendations of new technology
  • Remediation of issues with clients infrastructure & critical business systems escalated to Level 3
  • Participate in the on-call rotation of the technical staff for after-hours support
  • Conduct IT security audits including vulnerability assessments, pen tests, and report writing
  • Meet with the leadership team to provide strategic direction on new technology initiatives
  • Cross-training of ACCi technical staff for support purposes
  • Periodic reviews & updates to processes and SOPs related to the IT department
  • Responsible for entering time & expenses in our ConnectWise (PSA) tool in real-time as it occurs
  • Complete assigned training materials and blueprints on ConnectWise University
  • Enter all work as service/project tickets into ConnectWise as it occurs (daily)
  • Complete in-house projects assigned from time-to-time
  • System documentation, maintenance and review in ConnectWise configuration records
  • Communication with clients as required (i.e. keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes, or agreed outages)
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • The ability to complete an assigned task in a safe manner and in a constant state of alertness

  • Upholds company policies, including the prevention of harassment

Continuing Education

The Senior Engineer / Solution Architect is expected to maintain current certifications and to achieve new certifications as directed by management as the need arises. Personal study time is expected to be done outside of business hours. ACCi pays for all study materials, seminars/boot camps, and test fees.
